Implantes dentários

O implante é uma estrutura de titânio em forma de parafuso presa à mandíbula para substituir os dentes ausentes. Os implantes de titânio são usados porque o titânio adere bem à mandíbula e fornece força máxima. Os implantes são um procedimento de alta demanda, pois é a única solução permanente para substituir os dentes perdidos.

Pacientes com dentes perdidos podem ter problemas como deficiência de mastigação e dificuldade de fala. Também pode causar perda óssea no local vazio onde o dente está faltando. Como uma tomografia computadorizada de feixe cônico é realizada antes de cada procedimento, ela verifica se há perda óssea e, se houver alguma perda óssea, será necessário um enxerto ósseo antes de colocar os implantes.

A quem o tratamento com implante pode ser aplicado? Pacientes com gengivas, mandíbula e ossos saudáveis que podem suportar os implantes se beneficiarão com o procedimento, mas os pacientes que receberam radioterapia na região da cabeça e pescoço não poderão se beneficiar deste procedimento.

Como acontece com qualquer tratamento, existem alguns pequenos riscos envolvidos, como angulação incorreta, posicionamento incorreto, lesão do nervo, sangramento durante o procedimento, formação de orifícios no osso na área do implante e perda óssea na mandíbula inferior.
