Tandheelkundige kronen

Een tandkroon is een soort dop die de hele tand van een patiënt bedekt. De kroon is gemaakt van porselein, metaal of een combinatie van porselein en metaal en is bevestigd aan de tand in de mond van de patiënt.

Wanneer is een kroon nodig?

Kronen worden aangebracht wanneer ze niet kunnen worden behandeld met normale restauraties zoals tandvullingen. Kronen worden vaak gebruikt wanneer de tand is aangetast door een wortelkanaalbehandeling of een grotere restauratie heeft ondergaan, zoals om gebroken tanden, vergane en beschadigde tanden te repareren. Kronen worden ook toegepast om het uiterlijk van het vrouwtje van de patiënt te verbeteren.

Wat houdt het dragen van een kroon in?

Tijdens het inbrengen van een kroon moet de oude tand van de patiënt worden doorboord in de vorm van een kleine spijker om ervoor te zorgen dat de kroon stevig vastzit.

De vorm en grootte van elke kroon wordt afgestemd op de behoeften van de patiënt, aangezien een mal van de tand van de patiënt wordt genomen en ter voorbereiding naar het laboratorium wordt gestuurd. Dit zorgt voor een kroon die eruitziet als echte tanden en perfect past.
