Couronnes dentaires

Une couronne dentaire est un type de capuchon qui recouvre la dent entière d’un patient. La couronne est faite en porcelaine, en métal ou en une combinaison de porcelaine et de métal et est fixée à la dent dans la bouche du patient.

Quand est-ce que la couronne est nécessaire ?

Les couronnes sont appliquées lorsque le traitement avec des restaurations normales telles que des obturations dentaires ne sont pas possible. Les couronnes sont souvent utilisées lorsque la dent est compromise par un traitement de canal radiculaire ou a subi une restauration plus importante, par exemple pour réparer des dents cassées, cariées et endommagées. Les couronnes sont également appliquées pour améliorer l’apparence de la dent du patient.

Qu'implique le port d'une couronne?

Lors de l’insertion d’une couronne, l’ancienne dent du patient doit être percée sous la forme d’un petit clou pour s’assurer que la couronne est solidement fixée.

La forme et la taille de chaque couronne sont adaptées aux besoins du patient, car un moule de la dent du patient est pris et envoyé au laboratoire pour préparation. Cela donne une couronne qui ressemble à de vraies dents et qui s’adapte parfaitement.
