Face Lift/Neck Lift
Face lifting is a cosmetic procedure which makes your face and neck tighter and smoother by lifting and pulling back the skin. It treats loose skin, wrinkles, saggy skin and lines. What does a facelift involve?
A facelift is performed under general anaesthetic, the muscles, fat and nerve tissue of the face that forms the sagging are removed, facial tissue is then strengthened. The procedure takes an average of 2-5 hours depending on each case. Factors such as age, gender, and facial condition varies according to each individual determines the operation duration.
The patient is discharged on the 2nd day after the procedure. The sutures on the face and eyelids are removed within 1 week. Metal sutures are removed within 10 days.
There may be a slight pain on the face, but pain relief is provided. The procedure leaves a slight scar on the front and back of the ear, which becomes heals very quickly and becomes less noticeable over time.
How to prepare for the face lift procedure?
Before undergoing the procedure, the patient should not smoke for at least 3 weeks prior, should refrain from using medication such as vitamin E and similar, should avoid drinking herbal tea and stop any blood-thinning medications.
Patients should allow three weeks before wearing any glasses and one month before dying their hair for the face to heal. Leaving hair long will be a good solution to hide the incision wounds. After the face lifting operation, bruises and swellings diminish within 3 or 4 weeks and disappear completely.
Patients can return to work in 2 weeks, but heavy labour should be avoided. Alcohol consumption should be stopped, steam baths and saunas should be avoided for at least a few months. Sunscreen should be used regularly.

Bleeding, infection, residual scars, nerve damage, and hair loss are the risks of face lifting surgery.
